CRDC - Gifted & Talented Enrollment
School-level gifted and talented (GT) program enrollment from the U.S. Department of Education's Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC). Covers all public K-12 schools nationwide, collected biennially. Includes total GT enrollment by sex, racial/ethnic breakdowns, English learner status, and IDEA (disability) status per school. Values of -9 indicate suppressed or inapplicable data (e.g., schools without a GT program report -9 for all enrollment fields). These are exposed as-is in the raw data; the `with-program` and `illinois-with-program` views null them out so aggregations are accurate. To join with Illinois state data: match `lea_name` + `sch_name` against `isbe/report-card` (school_name + district) or `isbe/sat-scores`. COMBOKEY is the NCES standard identifier but ISBE uses RCDTS codes, so name-matching is the practical join path for IL equity analysis. Coverage: 2015-16, 2017-18, 2020-21, 2021-22 collections (~360,000 school-year records). 2013-14 data exists but uses a different XLSX format with an extra disclosure column; it can be added later.

NFL Game Results & Schedules
Game-by-game NFL results and schedules from 1999 to the present, maintained by the nflverse open-source community project. Each row is one game: final score, closing betting lines (spread, total, moneyline), starting quarterbacks, head coaches, referee, stadium, and weather at kickoff. Covers regular season and every playoff round (wild card, divisional, conference championship, Super Bowl). Rows for games not yet played (future schedule) carry team, date, and time but have null score, result, total, and overtime. spread_line and total_line follow the standard sportsbook convention: spread_line is the home team's line, so a negative value means the home team was favored; total_line is the combined over/under. result is home_score minus away_score, so a positive result means the home team won.

California State Vendor Payment Transactions (FI$Cal)
Line-item vendor payment transactions for California state government, published by the state's FI$Cal financial system as one CSV per department per fiscal year on the Open FI$Cal transparency portal. Each row is a single accounting transaction: department, vendor, account classification, fund, program, budget reference, and the monetary amount. This dataset is not a new state disclosure -- it is the state's own transaction-level transparency publication, unioned across all 188 departments and FY2016-FY2025 (1,230 department-fiscal-year files, ~40M rows, 10.7 GB) into one queryable table, rather than downloading one department-year CSV at a time from the portal. `department_name` is present on every row, so a department-level spending rollup is already available here (see the `by-department-year` view below) without also ingesting the state's separate ~125 GB department-spending file family, which carries a near-identical schema (columns suffixed `_1`/`_0`) but no vendor name and is not part of this dataset. This dataset is multi-source (one file per department-fiscal-year) and is not on an automatic sync schedule (`sync.interval: never`): the source is a fixed pointer CSV enumerating 1,230 files, and a new fiscal year means the pointer gains new rows that must be re-fetched and the `sources` list in this YAML regenerated, then a manual `POST /v1/datasets/ca-fiscal/vendor-transactions/refresh` triggered. Acceptance check for a full ingest: `SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT _source_url)` should equal 1230, and `SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT fiscal_year_begin)` should equal 10. A partial-success ingest (some department-year files failing to fetch) still reports `success=True` with a `"Partial success: N/M source(s) failed"` message rather than a hard failure, so the distinct-source-count check -- not the ingest exit status -- is what confirms full coverage.

California Free and Reduced Price Meal (FRPM) Eligibility
School-level counts of students eligible for free or reduced-price meals under the National School Lunch Program, published annually by the California Department of Education from the CALPADS Fall 1 (Census Day) submission. One row per school per academic year, carrying enrollment, the free-meal-eligible count, and the unduplicated free-or-reduced-price (FRPM) count on two denominators: the K-12 population and the ages 5-17 population that federal Title I allocations use. FRPM eligibility is California's standard proxy for student poverty and the denominator that makes test-score, graduation, and accountability data interpretable, so this table is the poverty dimension that joins to the rest of the CDE data via the 14-digit CDS code. Covers 2011-12 through 2025-26. Two vintages are partial: 2011-12 publishes only the ages 5-17 denominator and no free-eligible rate, and 2012-13 leaves the counts blank at Provision 2/3 schools.

Childhood Blood Lead Surveillance (State Data, 1997-2022)
CDC's Childhood Blood Lead Surveillance (CBLS) system: the number of children under 72 months of age tested for lead, and the number with confirmed blood lead levels (BLLs) at or above various thresholds, by state/jurisdiction and year, 1997-2022. State and local childhood lead poisoning prevention programs funded by CDC cooperative agreements are required to report; other jurisdictions report voluntarily. One row is a state-year, plus a "U.S. Totals" aggregate row per year. Three CDC-published tables are combined to build the full time range, since no single CDC file covers 1997-2022: 1997-2011 (a merged-cell Excel table, mechanically re-tiled into a local CSV -- see PROVENANCE.md), 2012-2016 (a cleaner CDC-published Excel table), and 2017-2022 (the current CDC file). All three report the same underlying CBLS program data; only the file format and column layout changed over time. The elevated-BLL threshold CDC uses has changed twice: >=10 ug/dL was the sole "level of concern" through 2011, CDC added a >=5 ug/dL reference value in 2012, and lowered it further to >=3.5 ug/dL in October 2021. This dataset reports whichever thresholds each era's source table actually published, leaving the rest null rather than estimating -- do not read a null as zero. Concretely: bll_ge_3_5/bll_3_5_to_5 are populated 2022 onward only; bll_ge_5/bll_5_to_10 are populated 2010 onward (present but sparse in 2010-2011, consistently populated 2012 onward); bll_ge_10 is populated for the full 1997-2022 range. The detailed BLL bands (10-<15, 15-<20, 20-<25, 25-<45, >=45 ug/dL) are populated for the full range; the 1997-2011 source reported the top band as two bins (45-69 and >=70 ug/dL) which are summed into bll_ge_45 to match the newer schema -- see PROVENANCE.md for the exact harmonization. Because the elevated-threshold definition changed mid-series, a raw year-over-year comparison of "percent elevated" before and after 2012 (or 2022) is comparing two different clinical definitions, not just a trend -- use bll_ge_10 for an apples-to-apples comparison across the entire 1997-2022 range, since it is the one threshold reported in every era. Important limitation, stated explicitly by CDC: this table is not a population-based estimate and cannot be used to compare states or generate national prevalence estimates. Testing is initiated by healthcare providers (not universal screening), programs report only children with a confirmed lab result, and jurisdictions vary widely in what they report - some years/states show markedly lower tested counts than the jurisdiction's own published surveillance data because CDC's national compilation reflects only what was submitted to the national system. NHANES is CDC's recommended source for representative national prevalence estimates.
