Debt to the Penny

The national debt clock. Every day, the Treasury publishes how much money the U.S. government owes in total, broken down by who it owes it to. Some debt is held by banks, foreign countries, and regular investors. Some is internal, owed between government accounts. If you want to know what the debt was on any specific day, or track how it's changed over months and years, this is where that number comes from.
