Medicare Part D Opioid Prescribing Rates by Geography
How often Medicare doctors prescribe opioids varies wildly by state and between rural and urban areas. This dataset shows those prescription rates, whether they're going up or down, and how they've changed over five years. You can see which areas have the highest long-acting opioid prescribing (the stronger, longer-lasting painkillers) and track trends year to year. It's the actual prescribing data Medicare sees, not estimates.
