Sports Data Collection
GovernmentThis is a topical collection rather than a single organization. The datasets come from different sources: FiveThirtyEight publishes advanced NBA player metrics (RAPTOR ratings), while historical World Cup and Tour de France results were compiled by the TidyTuesday project (R4DS Online Learning Community) from various official sports records. The files are hosted on GitHub but produced by these separate publishers.

NBA RAPTOR Player Ratings
Want to know if a player is actually as good as their points-per-game average suggests? RAPTOR tries to answer that. Unlike traditional stats that just count points and rebounds, RAPTOR estimates how much better (or worse) a team performs when a specific player is on the court. It's the difference between someone who scores 20 points but loses with them on the floor versus someone who scores 15 but wins with them out there. This data includes both the traditional box score numbers and these advanced impact ratings for every modern NBA player.
Women's World Cup Results
Every Women's World Cup match since the tournament started in 1991, all in one place. You can see who played whom, what the score was, and who won. Want to know how the US team has performed over time? Or see which countries tend to score the most goals? Or track a specific team's journey through the tournament brackets? This is the data for that.
Tour de France Winners
Every year since 1903, one cyclist wins the Tour de France. This dataset shows who won each year and the details that matter: their name, country, what team they rode for, how fast they completed the race, and how many individual stages they won. You also get personal details like when they were born, how tall they were, and sometimes when they died. It's a century-plus record of cycling's biggest race, showing how the sport and its winners have changed over time.
