Average Teacher Salary by State

Teacher salaries have changed dramatically over the past 50 years, but that change looks different depending on where you live. This data shows what public school teachers actually earned year by year in every state since 1969, adjusted for inflation so you can see real changes, not just the effect of rising prices. You can see which states have always paid teachers well, which ones have fallen behind, and whether your state's teachers are earning more or less than they used to in real terms.
