Federal Poverty Guidelines

When you apply for food stamps, Medicaid, or help paying for health insurance, a caseworker checks your income against these official poverty lines. If you're under the threshold for your family size, you qualify. This dataset shows those thresholds going back 60 years, so you can see how they've risen (or not) over time and compare how much stricter or looser eligibility has become. It's the number that decides whether millions of people get help or not.
