Median Sales Price of New Houses Sold
When you hear that new homes are getting more expensive, this is the data behind that claim. It shows what people actually paid for brand new houses, measured four times a year, going all the way back to 1963. The prices aren't adjusted for inflation, so you can see what a new house literally cost in dollars at any point in time. This doesn't include people buying existing homes, just new construction.
