Provisional Drug Overdose Death Counts

This tracks how many people died from drug overdoses each month in each state, and what drug was involved. The CDC releases updated numbers every month because it takes time for all deaths to be reported and verified. You'll see numbers for specific drugs like fentanyl and methamphetamine, as well as a combined count for all opioid overdoses. The numbers for recent months are still being updated as more reports come in, so they're called 'provisional' and might change.
