California City Financial Transactions, Per Capita (SCO)
Want to know how much money flows in and out of California cities? This is the data. Every city files annual reports with the state showing total revenues (taxes, fees, grants) and total expenditures (payroll, services, infrastructure). This dataset gives you those totals per city, broken down by year and adjusted for population size so you can fairly compare a small town to a big city. It covers all California cities going back to 2002. Cities report their own numbers, so it's not independently verified, but it's the standard reference for city finances.
