Import and Export Price Indexes (MXP)
When you hear about trade deficits or how the weak dollar affects American companies, this is the data behind it. Every month, the government tracks how much prices are changing for products the U.S. sells overseas and for products it buys from other countries. Are American exports getting more or less expensive? Are we paying more for imports? This dataset answers both questions, going back decades. It's useful if you care about manufacturing competitiveness, inflation from foreign goods, or what's actually happening in trade beyond the headlines.
